Summary Could free radicals speed aging by disrupting the cell's communication system? Show / hide ↓

Researchers reviewed earlier laboratory and biological research rather than testing a treatment in people. Free radicals, highly reactive molecules made during normal body activity, can damage cell parts but also carry messages. The paper proposes that too many or poorly controlled free radicals may disturb cell signaling, the chemical messages that tell cells how to respond, repair themselves, and survive. It did not enroll human participants or show that changing free-radical levels makes people live longer.

What this means for you: This is a possible explanation for aging, not proof that a specific product or treatment will slow it. Do not buy antioxidant supplements based on this paper alone.
