Study
Experimental Evidence Against Taurine Deficiency as a Driver of Aging in Humans
PRIMARY
2025
Summary Does taking taurine slow aging in people? Show / hide ↓
Researchers tested whether taurine levels and taurine supplements were linked to aging in humans. Healthy adults took taurine or a lookalike placebo, then researchers checked blood taurine and health measures linked with aging. The supplement did not produce clear improvements in these measures. This human result differs from earlier studies in animals, where taurine appeared to extend lifespan.
What this means for you: This study does not support buying taurine supplements to slow aging. It was limited in size and duration, so it cannot rule out every possible benefit or risk.
