Summary Can a longevity-related hormone treatment be safely given to small monkeys? Show / hide ↓
Researchers tested 17α-estradiol, a form of the hormone estrogen, in common marmosets, which are small monkeys. They gave the animals different doses and watched for signs of illness or other harmful effects. This was a small pilot study, meaning an early test mainly focused on safety and suitable dosing. It did not show whether the treatment extends life or improves health.
What this means for you: This is animal research and does not show that 17α-estradiol is safe or useful for people. Do not buy or take it based on this study; larger animal studies and human trials are still needed.
