A pharmacokinetic study and critical reappraisal of curcumin formulations enhancing bioavailability
Summary Do expensive curcumin supplements actually get more curcumin into your body? Show / hide ↓
Researchers compared several curcumin products in healthy adult volunteers. They measured curcumin and its breakdown products in blood, a test called a pharmacokinetic study that tracks how a substance moves through the body. Some specially formulated products produced higher blood levels than ordinary curcumin. However, higher blood levels do not show that a product improves health, slows aging, or helps people live longer.
What this means for you: This study may help compare how much curcumin different products deliver, but it does not prove that the costlier products provide meaningful health benefits. Do not buy a formulation for longevity based on this study alone.
