NY-TREAT: Time-Restricted Eating in Adults with Overweight/Obesity

Summary Does time-limited eating help adults with overweight or obesity lose weight? Show / hide ↓

Researchers randomly assigned adults with overweight or obesity to time-restricted eating, which means eating only during a set daily window, or to a comparison eating plan. They followed the participants for several months and measured weight and other health markers. The time-window group lost some weight, but it did not clearly lose more than the comparison group. The study suggests that when you eat may matter less than your overall food intake and eating habits.

What this means for you: You do not need to buy special products or follow a strict eating clock based on this study. A shorter eating window may be useful if it naturally helps you eat less, but it does not appear to be a magic weight-loss method.
