Rapamycin in the context of Pascal's Wager: generalized hormesis and safe treatments
PRIMARY
2010
Summary Could rapamycin help people live longer without unacceptable health risks? Show / hide ↓
This was a discussion paper, not an experiment. The researchers considered whether rapamycin, a drug that affects mTOR, a cell system controlling growth and nutrient use, might slow aging. They proposed that small doses could create hormesis, a mild stress response that may help cells become more resilient. No people or animals took part, and the paper produced no new lifespan or safety results.
What this means for you: This paper does not show that rapamycin is safe or extends human life. You can ignore it when deciding whether to buy or take rapamycin; clinical evidence is still needed.
