Bryan Johnson reports a 265-pound front-box-squat PR
NEW TRAINING UPDATE: Johnson reports a 265 lb heel-elevated front-box-squat PR, 10 lb above the prior week, while training to dunk; no controlled comparison or injury surveillance is reported.
On 14 September 2026, Bryan Johnson posted a 265-pound personal record in a heel-elevated front box squat, 10 pounds above the previous week. He said he was getting proper shoes and had improvised because the slant board was missing. He connected the lift to a dunk goal and listed target thresholds: approximately 35 inches of vertical jump, 14.5 feet per second takeoff velocity, 585 pounds of ground force, 0.2 seconds to take off and 14.8 horsepower of peak power. He also described landing loads of 6–10 times body weight and a 3–5-fold rupture-risk estimate for men his age, but gave no citation or method for those figures. The post does not identify the exact box height, range of motion, barbell setup, repetitions, rest, body mass, measurement device, or injury status. A one-week PR comparison cannot separate training adaptation from technique, footwear, fatigue, motivation or day-to-day variation. It does not show that the lift improves jump height, healthspan or longevity. This record treats the post as an instrumented n=1 training update and does not turn Johnson’s risk estimates into general advice.
New PR 265 lbs. Heel elevated front box squat. +10 lbs from last week.
No critic piece or new human RCT/meta-analysis in the 9–16 September window tested this lift sequence. No ingredient grade change follows.
