Summary Can ashwagandha improve memory and thinking in healthy adults? Show / hide ↓
Researchers gave healthy adults either ashwagandha root extract or a look-alike placebo for eight weeks. They used memory, attention, and thinking tests before and after the treatment. The ashwagandha group showed greater improvements on some tests than the placebo group. This was a small study, so the results may not apply to everyone or last beyond eight weeks.
What this means for you: This is not strong enough evidence to buy ashwagandha specifically for better memory. It suggests a possible short-term benefit, but larger and longer studies are needed.
