Study
Clinical translation of senolytic therapies: mouse to human
PRECLINICAL
2020
Summary Can drugs that remove aging cells help people, not just mice? Show / hide ↓
This was a review of research on senolytics, drugs designed to remove senescent cells, which are damaged cells that stop dividing and may harm nearby tissues. Most evidence came from mice and other laboratory studies, where some drugs improved certain age-related problems. The researchers also examined small early human studies, which mainly looked at safety and short-term changes. No large human trial showed that these drugs extend life or broadly slow aging.
What this means for you: Do not buy senolytic drugs or supplements expecting proven anti-aging benefits. The idea is promising, but human benefits and long-term safety remain uncertain.
