Scientists up stakes in bet on whether humans will live to 150

Summary Could a person ever live to 150 years? Show / hide ↓
Researchers reviewed death records for the oldest people in several countries. They used a statistical model, a mathematical way to estimate future outcomes, to predict how high the human age record might go. The results suggested that someone could reach 125 years in coming decades, but reaching 150 years would be very unlikely. This was a prediction based on past records, not a test of a treatment. It did not prove that living to 150 is impossible.
What this means for you: This does not support buying a longevity product or changing your medical care. It is an uncertain forecast and says little about how any individual can live longer.
