Targeting Cellular Senescence with Dasatinib and Quercetin (D+Q) in Diabetic Kidney Disease

Trial registration, Mayo Clinic

PRIMARY 2020
Summary Can dasatinib and quercetin improve kidney disease caused by diabetes? Show / hide ↓

Researchers planned an early human study of dasatinib and quercetin, two medicines given together. They wanted to see whether the treatment could remove senescent cells, which are damaged cells that stop working normally and may harm nearby tissue. Adults with diabetic kidney disease were to receive the treatment and have their kidney health and safety monitored. This registry record does not report results, so we do not know whether it helped or caused side effects.

What this means for you: This study does not show that the treatment works. Do not buy or try this combination outside medical care, especially because dasatinib is a powerful prescription cancer medicine with serious risks.
