Gene therapy to fend off aging? Buzzy Harvard startup Rejuvenate Bio says it works in mice

Summary Can gene therapy make older animals healthier and help them live longer? Show / hide ↓
Researchers gave old mice a gene therapy, which adds genetic instructions to cells using a harmless delivery virus. The treatment was designed to change biological processes linked with aging. The company reported that treated mice showed signs of better health and lived longer than untreated mice. No people took part, and the findings were from animal research.
What this means for you: This does not show that the treatment works in people or is safe for them. It is not a reason to buy an anti-aging treatment or seek gene therapy outside a properly approved clinical trial.
