PRIMARY 2021
Summary Can scientists really bring woolly mammoths back to life? Show / hide ↓

A biotechnology company announced plans to recreate some mammoth features in living elephant cells. It would compare mammoth DNA, the genetic instructions in cells, with elephant DNA and use gene editing, a way to change DNA. The project might eventually create an elephant with mammoth-like traits, but no mammoth has been brought back. This was a research and business announcement, not a completed study, and no people participated.
