Summary Can rapamycin slow aging without raising infection risk? Show / hide ↓

This report is not a controlled study. It describes one person stopping rapamycin, a prescription drug that can dampen the immune system, after repeated infections. Small human studies have tested rapamycin or similar drugs in older adults, but they were not large or long enough to prove longer life. Researchers still do not know whether the possible benefits outweigh the risks for healthy people.

What this means for you: Do not take rapamycin for anti-aging without medical supervision. There is not enough evidence that it helps healthy people live longer, and infections are a possible concern.
