Evaluation of off-label rapamycin use to promote healthspan in 333 adults
Summary Does taking rapamycin off-label help healthy adults stay healthier longer? Show / hide ↓
Researchers surveyed 333 adults who were taking rapamycin, a prescription drug that affects cell growth and is not approved for extending healthy lifespan. They asked about health conditions, COVID-19, wellbeing, and side effects. Many participants reported feeling better and having fewer health problems, but these reports were not checked against medical records or a carefully matched comparison group. Mouth sores were among the most commonly reported side effects. Because the study was based on volunteers’ own reports, it cannot show that rapamycin caused the benefits.
What this means for you: This does not provide strong evidence that rapamycin extends healthy life. Do not buy or take it for longevity based on this survey; proper clinical trials are still needed.
