Fingerstick blood assay maps real-world NAD+ disparity

Various

PRIMARY 2023
Summary Do NAD+ levels in blood differ widely between ordinary people? Show / hide ↓

Researchers developed a finger-prick blood test for NAD+, a molecule cells use for energy and repair. They used it on blood samples from adults living in the real world, rather than only in a laboratory setting. The results showed substantial differences in NAD+ levels between people, including patterns linked with age and other personal factors. This was an observational study, so it measured differences but did not test a treatment or prove what caused them.

What this means for you: This does not show that buying an NAD+ supplement will improve health or slow aging. It mainly shows that blood NAD+ levels vary and that a small blood sample can measure them; the health meaning of those differences remains uncertain.
