The Safety and Antiaging Effects of Nicotinamide Mononucleotide in Human Clinical Trials
Summary Does NMN safely slow aging or improve health in people? Show / hide ↓
Researchers reviewed human clinical trials of nicotinamide mononucleotide, or NMN, a supplement that may raise NAD, a molecule involved in energy production and cell function. The studies tested NMN in adults, but they were generally small and lasted only a short time. NMN appeared to raise NAD levels, and some studies found possible improvements in blood sugar control, muscle function, or exercise-related measures. Serious short-term side effects were not clearly increased, but the studies did not show that NMN slows aging or helps people live longer.
What this means for you: This is not strong evidence that NMN is an anti-aging treatment. It may appear reasonably tolerated in the short term, but long-term safety and meaningful health benefits remain uncertain, so there is no clear reason to buy it for longevity.
