Study
Hs-CRP and all-cause, cardiovascular, and cancer mortality risk: A meta-analysis
META-ANALYSIS
2017
Summary Does high hs-CRP predict an earlier death? Show / hide ↓
Researchers combined results from earlier studies, a method called a meta-analysis. These studies followed adults and measured hs-CRP, a blood marker of inflammation. People with higher hs-CRP levels were more likely to die from any cause, heart and blood-vessel disease, or cancer during follow-up. These were observational studies, so they show a link but cannot prove that hs-CRP itself caused the deaths.
What this means for you: This does not show that lowering hs-CRP will extend your life. Treat it as one possible health-risk clue, not a reason by itself to buy a supplement or start a treatment.
