Ethos
'Foundational nutrition' greens powder.
Included on this site for comparison and skepticism, not as a recommendation. Very heavily marketed. Blends without listed amounts hide individual doses. Low quality transparency.
What doesn't add up
No brand is perfect. These are the concerns and complaints we've found from independent sources.
Documents that over 100 adverse event reports involving AG1 have been filed with the FDA, 34 of which describe elevated liver enzymes or liver injury. The FDA opened an investigation at the end of 2024. These reports do not prove causation, but warrant scrutiny.
Argues AG1 delivers vitamins in excess of daily needs (e.g. 467% vitamin C, 1,100% biotin) and bundles adaptogens, digestive enzymes, and probiotics with no robust human evidence for the claimed benefits. Notes NSF certification confirms label accuracy, not clinical utility.
NY Magazine's March 2024 profile documented AG1 as a recurring 'zero-cost' podcast endorsement by Andrew Huberman, who sits as a paid scientific advisor. Huberman Lab's own disclaimer confirms he 'serves as a scientific advisor to AG1' and 'receives financial compensation from those entities.' Editorial framing of AG1 on that show reads against a paid relationship rather than an independent endorsement.
AG1's own supplement facts panel discloses four blends without listed amounts by total weight only (Raw Superfood Complex 7,388 mg, Nutrient-Dense Extracts 2,732 mg, Digestive Enzyme + Mushroom Complex 154 mg, Alkaline Nutrient Complex 300 mg). Individual doses for ashwagandha, rhodiola, spirulina, and every other botanical inside those blends are not disclosed. Buyers cannot verify whether any single ingredient reaches a clinically studied dose.
